Steven A. Shapiro, DO, FAAP, FACOP
Dr. Steven A. Shapiro better known as “Dr. Steve” to his patients is the Founder of Pediatric Medical Associates which began operations in 1980. Since January 2002 he has been Chairman, Department of Pediatrics at Abington Memorial Hospital (AMH). He is a graduate of the Kansas City University of Medicine and Bioscience, and completed his Residency in Pediatrics at both the Naval Regional Medical Center-Philadelphia, and the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). Following his residency he completed a Fellowship in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at CHOP.
Dr. Shapiro is an outspoken advocate for children. He has testified before the PA State Legislature (Committee on Children and Youth 5/06) on matters involving unintentional childhood injury as a result of furniture manufacturing deficiencies. He served the Commonwealth on several State and County Committees (PA MCare Commission 3/06-11/06; Katie Elise Lambert Child Safety Advisory Committee 4/07-3/08), is a charter member of the Montgomery County Child Death Review Team, and serves as a consultant to the Montgomery County Office of Children and Youth focusing on medical evaluations of the physically and sexually abused child.
In December 2008 with the support of AMH and the family of the late Dr. Corinne R. Santerian, Dr. Shapiro proudly opened the Corinne R. Santerian Newborn Center at two locations on the AMH campuses. The Center provides Newborn services to both uninsured/underinsured families delivering at AMH.
Dr. Shapiro is Board Certified in Pediatrics and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics (FAAP) and the American College Osteopathic Pediatricians (FACOP). In April 2003, Dr. Shapiro was elected to the College of Physicians of Philadelphia, the oldest (established and in continuous operation since 1784) and one of the most prestigious medical societies in America, as a Fellow. He is a current member of the Pennsylvania Chapter of the AAP, and both the Pennsylvania and Montgomery County Medical Societies. He is married to his childhood sweetheart Judi. They have three children, three more by marriage, and five grandchildren.
Philip D. Goldstein, MD, MPH, FAAP
Board Certified in Pediatrics and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics (FAAP), Dr. Goldstein earned both his Masters in Public Health (MPH) and Doctor of Medicine (MD) degrees from the Yale University School of Medicine in 1977 and 1981, respectively. He completed his internship and residency training in Pediatrics at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia in 1984, following which he practiced general Pediatrics with Pediatric Medical Associates through 1986. Prior to rejoining the practice in 2003, Dr. Goldstein provided medical leadership to a number of local and regional health care organizations. He has special interest and expertise in newborn and adolescent medicine as well as business and medical technology. He is an active member of the Pennsylvania and Montgomery County Medical Societies. Dr. Phil is married to a neonatologist, and has twin sons, Benjamin and Daniel.
Kyle Solomon, MD, FAAP
Dr. Solomon is Board Certified in Pediatrics and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics (FAAP). A 1989 graduate of the Ohio State University School of Medicine, she completed her residency training at Columbus Children’s Hospital and joined a private pediatric group in Ohio. After moving to Philadelphia in 1996, Dr. Solomon joined Pediatric Medical Associates. Dr. Kyle has experience and special interest in childhood behavior, attention deficit disorder (ADD), headache, and children with special needs. She is married with five children, plus one by marriage, and has numerous pets of all species. When not at PMA, Dr. Kyle enjoys gardening, skiing, traveling, reading, and spending time with her husband and teenage children (when they have time for Mom and Dad).
Jeffrey
Fogel, MD, FAAP
Dr. Fogel is a Board Certified Pediatrician and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics (FAAP). Following the completion of his undergraduate degree in Psychology and Biology at Syracuse University, he earned his medical degree at Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, New York, and completed his Pediatric residency at the University of Connecticut in Waterbury. He has been in practice in the Abington area since 1983, and founded Fort Washington Pediatrics. In 2002, Dr. Fogel relocated to Tampa, Florida to take a position at an after-hours outpatient pediatric facility. He returned to the area in 2004 to resume his two true loves: practicing primary care Pediatrics, and being an active firefighter with the Fort Washington Fire Company. He is currently on staff at Abington Memorial Hospital, and has served as a member of the Board of Directors of St. Christopher's Hospital for Children. Dr. Jeff has expertise and special interest in the areas of childhood behavior and discipline. He co-authored several chapters in the book “The Doctor's Book of Home Remedies for Children.” He has a lovely wife of 30 years and two grown children.
Daniel J. Isaacman, MD, FAAP
Dr. Isaacman, is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a board certified Pediatric Emergency Medicine Physician. Dr. Dan received his M.D. degree at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and completed his pediatric residency at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Following residency, Dr. Isaacman completed fellowship training in Pediatric Emergency Medicine at the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. Dan practiced pediatric emergency medicine for twenty years, serving on the faculty of the Department of Pediatrics at the Medical College of Wisconsin, the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He served as the Chairman of the Section of Emergency Medicine of the American Academy of Pediatrics from 2002-2004. He has authored over 50 research papers and numerous book chapters and has served on the Editorial Board of a variety of medical journals including Pediatrics, Pediatric Emergency Care, and Clinical Pediatric Emergency Medicine. Dan moved back to Philadelphia in 2004 to begin a career developing vaccines for children at Wyeth pharmaceuticals, and continued to see patients as Adjunct Professor of Pediatrics at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Dan recently transferred to Merck Research Laboratories where he serves as Director, Vaccines Clinical Research. He sees patients weekly in our offices as he enjoys the opportunity to care for children and their families. "After a career of seeing ill and injured children in the emergency setting, I am thrilled to make the transition to general pediatrics and address issues related to well-child care and growth and development. I am particularly grateful to be working with such a skilled set of practitioners in this practice". Dan lives in Ambler with his wife Fran and has two children in college: Alissa, 21 and Michael, 19.
